Luis Arboledas-Lérida is a postdoctoral fellow at the Scholarly Communications Research Work (Adam Mickiewicz University at Poznań), where he will conduct research within the framework of the research project ‘A comprehensive analysis of science communication in EU-funded projects in Poland’, funded by the Polish National Unit for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the 6th Ulam NAWA Programme.
The project aims to investigate the under-researched field of science communication in Poland, with a particular focus on the communication activities carried out within the framework of externally-funded research projects (above all, Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 grants). This examination develops at various levels, including: 1) in a more general perspective, an analysis of the communication activities, channels, and achieved impacts by research projects led by Poland-based institutions. This would enable, among other things, to better understand the potential influence of funding—both funding levels and funding instruments—on the level of science communication conducted by research consortia; 2) at the more granular level, a survey of the perceptions, beliefs, and attitudes towards project-based science communication by Poland-based researchers and research managers. At this point, he aims to disclose the tensions, contradictions, and conflicts that the growing requests on the part of funding agencies for grantees to communicate the projects and its outcomes might be causing in Poland.
Luis has made several contributions to the scholarly literature in internationally-renowned journals, and has conducted two research stays, one in Argentina and another one in Portugal. His research interests cover an ample range of topics, from science communication to Marxist studies; and he always strives to develop a critical perspective which is based on sound theory and an uncompromising attitude.
His spare time Luis dedicates to cultivate some of the hobbies of his, including walking, travelling, discovering new food, drinking coffee, and reading books.
